SUMMER MEMORIES
SKIPPING STONES
Coddled
And mottled, licked
Smooth as glass. Flicked and slicked
Skipping stones, tripping alone on
The waves.
HERMIT CRABS
Vacant,
Silent vagrant,
Takes up new house and home,
Room for one, he lives alone in
Seashells.
SAND DOLLARS
White doves
Flying free in
Sand dollars. Bony white,
And dried hot on stones and salty
Sunshine.
DRIFTWOOD
Wind kissed.
Stripped and ripped bare.
Fair tides are welcoming
from beyond and afar. You are
adrift.

ReplyDeleteThis is a collection of "pearls", in fact. You have mastered the form so well, and each one stands out amazingly!

Mariya expressed it perfectly. Lovely collection, and each a pearl in itself. Great use of form!
ReplyDeleteMisky, what a incredible collection of images! I feel like I just took a walk on the beach, can almost smell the salt air:-) Beautiful
ReplyDeleteOh yes! What they all said, Misk! Each "small stone" takes me to the beach to enjoy the day right along with you. Lovely! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful group of Cinquains. Thanks for the visions.
ReplyDeleteEach of these was a tiny vacation for the mind, Misky. Nothing shallow here but the surf line. I could almost envision the little hermit crab as a hobo and did see the sand dollar beached and bleached.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, my friend. Sigh. I love being at the beach.
What a fond farewell to summer; it's like having a lovely collection of special photos to fan through ... very special, wistful, memorable ...
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your lovely comments, and for coming for a read. :)
