A Poem by April Salzano

Psycho Finch

The crazed finch that built
a nest of moss in the middle
of my hanging petunia basket
screams at the front
window every morning at daybreak
as if part rooster,
firing misguided warnings
at her own reflection.
On the inside, my son yells back.
Each stands respective ground
well into morning.
