endless heat in southern winds                                                     

withered, grey forest leaves 

underbrush and grass crumble 

with the slightest movement                                                 

keen, rugged boars scour

brush and dry creek beds 

loose, clever magpies render                                                      

black-and-white guidance 

the rain still doesn’t fall
